Announcement of DGK travel grants to ECS 6, Budapest, Hungary

Author: Daniel Többens - Date: 7. February 2020

UPDATE: ECS 6 has been postphoned into 2021 because of the ongoing Corana pandemic. The current round of DGK travel grants is therefore cancelled; a new round will be announced in 2021.

The German Crystallographic Society (DGK) issues travel grants for young scientists with student status participating at 6th European Crystallographic School (ECS 6), Budapest, Hungary, 5. – 11. July 2020. Up to 4 grants of 400,- € each will be given to graduate or postgraduate students of a field related to crystallography at a German university or scientific institution.

Please send your application (in electronic form, in German or English) not later than 15th March 2020 to the chair of the DGK, Prof. Dr. Ralf Ficner (E-Mail: rficner@uni-goettingen.de).

Your application should include:
• Cover letter with motivation (1 page)
• Short CV
• Proof of student status
• Supporting statement (letter) of a Professor or a Senior Scientist at a university or public research institution

Grants will be issued subject to the quality of the application, acceptance of the conference contribution, and the available funds. Membership in the DGK is not a requirement. For legal reasons, it is not possible for us to award travel grants to recipients outside of Germany.

Applicants will be informed whether or not they have been granted a stipendium till 31th March 2020. Payout of the stipendium is under condition that the recipient actually participates in ECS 6.
It is expected that the grantees submit a report for publication in the organs of the DGK.

Information about ECS 6 can be found at https://www.ecs6.chemcryst.hu/.
