DGK travel grants to IUCr 25

Author: Daniel Többens - Date: 29. April 2021

The German Crystallographic Society (DGK) issues travel grants for young scientists with student status participating at the 25th Congress and General Assembly of the International Union of Crystallography (IUCr 25) in Prague, Czech Republic, taking place from 14th to 22nd of August 2021. Up to 10 grants of 400 € each will be given to graduate or postgraduate students of a field related to crystallography at a German university or scientific institution.

Please note that these stipendiums are for on-site participation only and will not be disbursed for virtual participation. The EC of the IUCr is expected to decide in the middle of June 2021, whether local attendance will be possible at all.

Please send your application (electronic form, German or English) not later than the 21th of May 2021 to the chair of the DGK, Prof. Dr. Thomas Schleid (E-Mail: schleid@iac.uni-stuttgart.de).

Your application should include:
– a cover letter with motivation (one page maximum)
– a short curriculum vitae (CV)
– a proof of student status
– a supporting statement (letter) of a professor or a senior scientist at a university or a public research institution

Grants will be issued subject to the quality of application, an acceptance of the conference contribution, and the available funds, but a membership in the DGK is not a requirement. For legal reasons, it is not possible for us to award travel grants to recipients outside of Germany. Applicants will be informed, whether or not they have been granted a stipendium until 1st of June 2021. Payout of the stipendium occurs only under the condition that the recipient actually participates in the IUCr 25 conference on-site. It is expected that the grantees submit a report for publication in the organs of the DGK.

Information about the IUCr 25 can be found at https://iucr25.org/.

Best wishes and regards
Prof. Dr. Thomas Schleid, Chair of the DGK
