The working group on high-pressure crystallography aims to provide a platform in the DGK for solid-state physicists and chemists, mineralogists and materials scientists who carry out investigations or syntheses under extreme conditions. The focus is also on the state variable pressure due to current instrumental developments, but investigations of other state variables can also find a forum.

One focus is on pressure-induced changes in crystal structures and phase transformations, with determinations of physical properties also being of fundamental interest. Typical objects of investigation are solids or (small) molecules.

In the field of synthesis, especially the recent developments in the area of in-situ laser heating substantially expand the preparative possibilities. In this area, discussions on the progress of methods or instrumentation are also welcome.
