Call for applications to host the third European Crystallography School (ECS3)

DGK-News Date: 7. März 2014

This is a call for applications to host the third European Crystallography School which will be held in 2016.

Each European School of Crystallography will cover different aspects of crystallography, basic or advanced, it will avoid repetitions of the same subject in different nations, and it will have a truly international board of renowned teachers, thus nurturing future scientists, and building new European scientific networks.

The Guidelines for the school are given in a document which can be found at:

http://www.ecanews.org/european_crystallography_schools.php

The deadline for receipt of submissions will be 2 June 2014 to allow for distribution to ECA Councillors for consideration before the Montreal meeting

The first European Crystallography School, Reinforcing foundations to build the 2nd Century of modern crystallography, will be held in Pavia (Italy), 31 August – 5 September 2014. See http://ecs1.ecanews.org for more details.

Next year, 2015, the second crystallography school will be in Spain, organised by Prof Santiago García Granda and Dr Fermin Otalora.

Funding for previous schools has been obtained from the Erasmus Intensive Program.

The European Crystallographic Association wishes to encourage all National Committees to coordinate their members to find potential partners to ECS for the Erasmus or equivalent program, in order to create a network of crystallographic research centres, which could continue their collaboration for future European Crystallography Schools.

A vote will be taken at the IUCr congress in Montreal in August this year.

Please submit your proposal for ECS3 to the ECA Secretary, Dr Georgina Rosair by email:
