On December 1, 2024, our honorary member Professor Dr. Heinz Schulz (* June 5, 1935) passed away.
Heinz Schulz taught crystallography and mineralogy at the Faculty of Geosciences at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München from 1984 to 2001. He was instrumental in the merger of the East German Vereinigung für Kristallographie and the West German Arbeitsgemeinschaft Kristallographie, from which in 1991 the German Crystallographic Society emerged and of which he was the first elected chairman from 1991 to 1994.
With his passing, we have lost a great crystallographer.
