The prize of the “Foundation of the Waltrude and Friedrich Liebau Prize for the Promotion of Interdisciplinarity in Crystallography” is intended to help promote the linkage of crystallography with other sciences in teaching and research and to make this linkage more visible to the public. The award is given for work in which either methods and approaches of crystallography have been successfully applied to problems of another science (partner science) or methods and approaches of a partner science have been successfully applied to problems of crystallography.

The Waltrude and Friedrich Liebau Prize for the Promotion of Interdisciplinarity in Crystallography is endowed with 2000 €. It will be presented at the honorary evening during the annual meeting of the DGK in Munich.

All members of the DGK as well as members of partner societies are entitled to nominate candidates. Personal applications of prize candidates are also admissible.

Proposals with a short justification are requested by Monday, November 30, 2021, and should be submitted by e-mail to the chairman of the prize committee (Dr. Ulrich Schwarz, Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids, schwarz@cpfs.mpg.de).

Due to the ongoing low-interest phase, this prize could not be awarded for years after the first award in 2010. The fact that this has been possible again since 2019 is thanks to the generous willingness of DGK members to donate.
