Dear readers,
My name is Dr Alexander Wollbrink and I am delighted to be taking on the role of editor of the DGK-Mitteilungen from 2026 onwards.
I would like to introduce myself briefly: I am a geoscientist by training, specialising in mineralogy and geochemistry. My work focuses on structure-property relationships, the synthesis and characterisation of inorganic materials, including in the fields of H₂-selective membranes, O₂ storage materials in TWCs and photocatalytically active materials.
The handover of editorial responsibility this year will take place in close collaboration with the previous editorial team, with the usual deadline at the end of May, i.e. 31 May 2026. Publication is expected in July 2026.
As part of the handover and reorientation of the “Mitteilungen”, the following changes will be introduced:
– A new layout in the familiar A5 format
– New contact address: redaktion@dgk-home.de
– Globally valid ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) for online and print editions
– Additional archiving and assignment of a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) at the institutional repository of Leibniz University Hannover and TIB (Leibniz Information Centre)
– Author Agreement to clarify the general rights of use for submitted articles
In 2026, Newsletter No. 56 will be sent to all members in printed form for the last time. From 2027, the newsletter will be published primarily online as a PDF file. However, the newsletter will continue to be available in printed form. To ensure this, you must take action: If you wish to receive the printed newsletter, please apply via the opt-in procedure. To do so, you can use the change request form for members of the DGK. (see QR code).
The newsletter is intended not only to document information about the diverse and current activities of the German Society for Crystallography e. V., but also to foster a sense of identity across all generations and, above all, to be visible.
For this, I need your support.
I would like to encourage all DGK members from the various working groups to submit contributions, e.g. upcoming elections, DGK scholarship holders, travel reports on workshops, and this year’s winners of the various DGK awards, by the editorial deadline at the end of May 2026 to the new contact address redaktion@dgk-home.de.
Finally, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the current editorial team for their support during the handover and for their contributions over the past 20 years.
Kind regards,
Alexander Wollbrink
